Job Description

TDC’s policy team works to ensure that policy makers are well-informed about the benefits and uses of blockchain technology and digital assets. The team acts as a resource to Congress and the executive branch while proactively advocating for the industry to prevent overly burdensome regulations and to establish clear regulatory guidelines which support adoption and growth.

TDC’s industry presence and reputation for thought leadership and policy guidance continues to grow and our policy team is expanding.  We are seeking an experienced policy leader to lead education and advocacy efforts around digital asset market structure and token designation issues, digital asset securities laws and regulations, as well as the creation of content focused on topics including but not limited to, decentralized finance (DeFi) and digital asset custody. This is an exciting opportunity for a policy leader who is adept at policymaker advocacy and engagement at the U.S. federal level, and communication with experience in U.S. public policy, ideally within the blockchain/digital asset industry.

The role will report to TDC’s Chief Policy Officer

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and prioritize initiatives that advocate for the practical applications of blockchain technology and legal clarity.
  • Lead key initiatives, TDC member briefings and select TDC working groups, collaborating with Chamber members to craft policy positions and advocacy strategies.
  • Serve as senior adviser on public policy and research, analyzing significant policy developments in real time, providing analysis and draft responses to a range of policy issues impacting TDC members like SEC proposed rulemakings.
  • Conduct outreach with policy makers, academia, and industry subject matter experts to advance the Chamber’s mission.
  • Represent the TDC periodically in public speaking engagements.
  • Develop and execute government official/Capitol Hill engagement strategies, including introducing the TDC to policymakers and committees and deepening relationships with existing TDC advocates.
  • Develop policymaker briefings, drafting materials and sourcing subject matter experts.
  • Work directly with congressional staff to provide input, subject matter expertise and legislative language on legislation throughout the proposal cycle.
  • Work closely with the Policy team and TDC companies in developing and implementing policy and advocacy campaigns.
  • Lead member engagement and development with goal of growing TDC membership and retaining existing members.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Public Policy or equivalent experience (J.D. preferred).
  • Significant and demonstrated policy experience within or related to Congress and/or regulatory agency(ies).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within the blockchain/digital asset sector.
  • Exceptional writing and public speaking skills and a demonstrated ability to independently produce policy maker responses, long form thought leadership, short-form blogs, member communications.
  • Able to distill complex subject matter into simple and easily digestible concepts for policymakers and industry.
  • Able to travel up to 1 week per month as required.
  • Passionate supporter and advocate of blockchain technology and digital currencies.
  • Mission and results-driven, with a proven ability to self-motivate and successfully reprioritize as necessary, with a consistently action-oriented and energetic approach.
  • Able to both lead initiatives and work as part of a team and work as a collaborative team player who can harness the collective ideas of others.
